Muchamiel (Mutxamel)

Muchamiel is a very tranquil place and traditionally is a sought after holiday retreat for many inhabitants of Alicante. They like to escape the stress of city living and relax and enjoy the beauty of Muchamiel. Street markets are a daily activity in Spain. A variety of products can be purchased from fresh fruit, vegetables, brick a brac, clothes, shoes, antiques and many more items. A paradise for the bargain hunter. Look out for the Wednesday street market at Muchamiel and Campello.

Jijona (Xixona)

If you have a sweet tooth you might like to take a 10 minute drive North into the mountains and visit a small town famous for Turron, a type of soft nougat. Turron, known in Spanish as turrón de Jijona and in Valencian as torró de Xixona is made from honey, sugar and the abudant almonds that grow in the region. On the outskirts of Jijona there is the Turron Museum which also makes the famous "El Lobo" and "1880" turron brands. With free entry, it is well worth a visit.

El Campello

If you like beaches, then Playa de El Campello is a 2km beach with a nice promenade. There are a range of local and international restaurants to choose from. There is also a marina with a nautical centre where water sports facilities are provided.
